Izumi is a versatile Hong Kong–based flutist and pianist originally from Japan. She received her rigorous musical education across the globe, studying at Kagoshima International University, the Royal Academy of Music, L’École Normale de Musique de Paris, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA).

A highly experienced orchestral performer, Izumi served as Assistant Principal Flute with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Acting Flute/Piccolo with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She has also performed with world-class ensembles including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.

Having started her own musical journey also on the piano, Izumi is passionate about sharing her rich performance experience and love for piano with young students.

Beyond her classical career, she is an active studio and crossover musician—recording for films and pop music, playing keyboard with reggae band Sensi Lion at Clockenflap, and founding her tribal fusion band, Mizu-水-. Her dynamic, multi-genre background brings a creative and well-rounded perspective to her teaching.
